Arriving in North America
Posted 18th May 2009
We left Australia late on the Wednesday evening after performing on Australia’s Got Talent, and made the next trip on our mammoth journey around the world. For me, this was my fifth time around the world.
We connected at San Fransisco on our way to New York where we would finish the journey to Philadelphia by road. We had a short layover in San Fransisco which reminded me of the trip I made there last September. It is definitely a place I would like Julz to see, so we’ll have to return to see it!
We eventually arrived in New York pretty late and we had a three hour drive ahead of us. We arrived in the early hours, and went straight to bed after a full day travelling.
We had the next day off to recover from the journey’ so we took the opportunity after a long lie-in to have a wander around Philadelphia. It was a fine day, and we walked down to the town hall, passing the liberty bell on the way.

Philadelphia is of course a very important part of US history, and has a link to my former home town of Bristol. The Penn family originated in Bristol and in the Church where I sang with my church choir there is a plaque to William Penn and his father.
Julz spent some time trying to find other books in the Twilight series. She has read two of them already since we left London, and so we popped into a bookstore to find them. Excitedly, Julz bought the remaining titles and we made our way back to the hotel. That evening we went with Jake for dinner and grabbed a ‘Philly’ cheese steak. We then headed back to the hotel.
We were in Philly for a short session on QVC to perform a few tracks. We headed out to the centre in Westchester and after a briefing a rehearsal, it was time to perform.
To my amazement, QVC’s stock sold out within 7 minutes! I enjoyed my time performing, and it was then time to head to New York in readiness for my performance on CBS’ Early Show. This time we went by train. It was a ninety minute journey on the train, my first ever train ride in America.
When we arrived, we headed straight to aol where I recorded three songs, La Prima Volta, Memory and Mamma, plus an interview. After that it was an early night as we would be up at five the next morning.
Five AM came very soon, and it was time to head to the studios very close to Central Park and I performed La Prima Volta and Memory, before heading to Montreal. We left for the airport on a day with record temperatures. So back to Canada we go!

Love your second album almost as much as the first one. Your talent is tremendous and it’s plain to see that you love what you’re doing. Enjoy living your dream, because we enjoy it right along with you.

Hi Paul,
I am writing a second time as I have now received both of your CD’s. It may seem repetitive and yet I must say that your voice is truly recognizable as a gift from GOD. I, like so many others, am full of joy each time I hear your voice. I like to play your CD’s while I work as your voice is so calming and soothing. Blessings to you and Julz forever. I look forward to seeing you in concert in Seattle. Please be sure to give me advance notice as I live 300 miles away.

My wife and I have seats for the performance in Boston. What is the chance that we can buy the new CD there and have it autographed? Well, we will probably need to buy two; one for her car and one for mine.
Welcome to New England!

Hi again Paul, I am so glad to know you enjoyed our great city of Philadelphia. As I am from PA I was sad that I did not know you were visiting there. It would have been awesome to be walking around the city and spot you among the people. William Penn is PA’s hero. I will cherish this photo because it is from PA and you were probably as close as you will get to where I live. Aren’t the Philly cheesesteaks delicious? If you ever venture near Hershey,PA - best known for Hershey’s Chocolate - the great American chocolate bar - I hope I am the first to know. I will be there to see you with a smile, a hope, and a prayer that I get to meet you and get to hear you perform. I would also love to hear you talk. Your accent is divine. But to hear the ‘Angel on Earth’ (that is my nickname for you)sing would be like nothing else in my life. I watch all your videos and try to catch all your TV performances and play you music whenever I can. I can’t get enough of it.
Love ya!

Paul, I wish I knew you were coming. I could have taken you to Pottstown and Pottsville while you were in the Philly area. Also sometime you may want to find old Potts family places like Valley Forge. In Philly they even have Potts Ice Cream. If you ever get to check old family history here in the U.S., check Richard Pots and Dr. John Pott in old Jamestown, VA. The Potts family became good friends of George Washington and Ben Franklin. Even a German member, Johann Potts was on the Lewis and Clark expedition. We’ve been around for a while.
I really appreciate your music. I’ve shared it with my bosses and they love it. Peace to you and yours.
Mark
